Nubia Barceló - Counselor
My name is Nubia Barcelo & I was born in Bogota, Colombia. I grew up in Queens, NY. I have a son age 29 and a daughter age 24. I have worked as the Counselor of Hillview High School for the past 16 years.
As the counselor of Hillview High School I do academic, at-risk, social emotional and post-secondary counseling, I feel very fortunate to work with so many students that are looking for a second chance. I have an A.A. in Liberal Arts, a B.A. in Behavioral Sciences, and a Masters in Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential. In my spare time I enjoy dancing, walking, traveling, going to the movies and spending time with my kids.

Sara Thede - Counselor
As a little girl, I grew up thinking I could never afford to go to college until I learned about financial aid and the community college system. Since then, my goal has been to share this knowledge with students and families. I attended both Orange Coast College and Santa Ana College before transferring to UC Irvine where I earned my bachelor’s degree and teaching credential. I completed my student teaching here at Hillview High School and went on to teach English in Newport-Mesa, Jurupa, and Irvine Unified School Districts. After many years in the classroom, I went back to school for my master’s degree in School Counseling, and P.P.S. credential at Concordia University, Irvine. I am excited to come back as a school counselor to work with the amazing educators and students here at Hillview.

Grace Hodgetts - Intern Counselor
I was born and raised in Tustin, and I am so happy to be a part of the amazing Hillview team! I attended Chapman University for my undergraduate studies, double majoring in Spanish and Psychology. I am now completing my master's degree in School Counseling at Chapman University with an emphasis in Clinical Counseling, pursuing my LPCC licensure. I began my time at Hillview in Spring of 2025 as a practicum student in my first year of graduate school, and I have remained at Hillview for my second-year internship because of how much I have loved working in this community! I will graduate in May, 2026, at which point I hope to get hired in a school counseling position and continue to help students achieve success in school and beyond.
